What Is Forex?
FX or Forex trading is the name given to the process of currency trading on the foreign exchange market. Essentially, you’re placing a bet on how one currency will move (i.e. go up or down in value) against another. This is the reason you see pairs on the Forex markets, (Euro vs. Pound for example).
You can trade on the forex market via your online trading account, contract for difference account or through your spread betting account. If you have none of these, you can quickly and easily set them up with numerous providers across the country.
There a numerous perks and rewards connected to forex trading, including the fact that you’re not required to pay tax in the UK on your profits, under the condition that you were trading from a spread betting account. Similarly, using this technique will also mean you don’t have to pay commission or stamp duty on any potential earnings.
As with any investment however, there are always inherent risks. Should the market move against you, it’s possible that you could end up losing substantially more than your originally invested. In order to prevent losing a fortune, you can put stop losses into place that will kick in and end the investment once it’s dropped a specified amount.
As with all of these kind of investments, you should only ever put in what you know you can comfortable afford to lose; don’t ever risk money you haven’t got.
If you’re considering trading on the foreign exchange, you should make sure you’re away of ALL the risks involved and that you take them properly into account. It might well be adviseable for you to seek professional advice from an expert in this industry; you may have to shell out some money for it but it could prove invaluable in the long-term. You could also think about using a ‘fake’ or ‘dummy’ online trading account; a service offered by a lot of online companies. These accounts let you trade on the markets using a ‘virtual’ bank account and capital, meaning any profits or losses you make aren’t real, but the whole process is extremely useful for gaining insights on whether or not the market is for you.
