Why Is It That Many Artists Do Not Like Guitar Hero

So many bands have announced that they do not like Guitar Hero and of course Rock Band simply because it does not help to teach people the real thing. Major artists like Jack White and Jimmy Page have said in the past that they simply do not see the point in it at all and that rather than paying out forelectric guitars, parents are going out and buying them the entire Guitar Hero or Rock Band package.Is something like this really contributing to the fact the music industry is failing or is this nonsense?

Positives

Many artists seem to think that GH is actually a major reason that the music industry is not doing that great, personally I am blaming it on all of the rubbish artists that we mostly see in the top 40 every week. It is very true to say that Gaming on the whole is a great way to teach people things and there have simply been many, many times where children have picked up this game and then gone to play the real instrument, this is a great thing.

Negatives

One of the only issues that I personally have with the game is that it really only chooses to focus in on encouraging the use of the electric guitar. What about the other guitars likebass guitarsand of courseelectro acoustic guitars. Bands need these type of guitar players as much as electric guitarists. I can also see the point in that people may just think that it is a game and cannot be bothered to take the time to pick up the real thing although on the most part I think that this isn’t the case.

Guitar Hero, along with Rock Band are not there to stop people from going out and playing the real thing, not by any means, they are there to help inspire, to help people to see how awesome playing the guitar, drums and singing really is
